President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni visits His Royal Majesty

President Museveni yesterday evening (May 14th, 2019) paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty Dr Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, the Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara at Karuziika palace.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Rt Hon Andrew Byakutaga requested the president to ensure that his promise of a Bunyoro university be operationalised.

The premier said starting the main university campus in Hoima district will be central and convenient since Hoima is centrally located in Bunyoro and Hoima is Bunyoro’s administrative and business headquarter.

He requested the president to give audience to the University steering committee to present to him the feasibility studies they have done and the president welcomed the the proposal.

The Kingdom asked the president to return all the Kingdom’s restituted properties and the President agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Kingdom on 10th June before presiding over the silver jubilee coronation celebrations of His Royal Majesty, the Omukama of Bunyoro the following day.

The president assured the Kingdom that he will fulfill his pledge of constructing a perimeter wall around Karuziika palace and renovate the palace.

The Kingdom team was led by His Royal Majesty who was flanked by the Queen Omugo Margret Karunga Adyeeri.

The chairman of BKK Royal commission Omujwarakondo Dr Kabagambe Kaliisa, Rt Hon Stephen Twesige Besisira, the BKK Third deputy Prime Minister, the Chief Prince Fred Mugenyi Rucuunya and the Omukama’s Principal Private secretary Prince Richard Kitehimbwa attended the meeting.
